We are excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with fitness coach and personal trainer Latifa. She is here to let you in on her secrets to living well and some simple fitness routines to meet your goals. Learn how she stays motivated and what inspired her journey to healthy living. Welcome Latifa!

1.What is  your advice on staying healthy and eating clean?

My advice is to take it one day at a time. It’s all about making healthy swaps. For example, opting for grilled chicken instead of fried. Drinking sparkling water flavored with fruit instead of coke.

2.  How can someone who is new to fitness and clean eating know where to start?

The best way to start would be to tackle your food intake. Take out all your junk food and stop buying them. If you don’t buy unhealthy food, you won’t eat it. And also, slowly cut out your bad foods and reintroduce fruits and veggies to your diet.

3. Why did you choose to become personal trainer?

I became a trainer to actually learn more about how to exercise for your body type, and also  to learn more about nutrition. I have a real passion for fitness and that’s what made me learn more about it.

4. What’s your favorite thing about working out?

I love the energy I get when working out and after it. I love pushing myself past the limit, and seeing myself getting stronger. I just love the feeling. Every time I go and see strength and results, it’s an achievement for me and that’s what makes it worth it.

5.Do you have fitness goals for yourself?

Yes I do, I’m always having goals and I never stop making them! Haha! My next goal is to cut as much as possible (losing body fat). I want to see how far my body can go in terms of getting lean. Then I want to do a lean bulk and focus on getting stronger this coming winter!

6.What are some exercises that can be suitable for anyone?

That depends on your age and physical capabilities. Some people aren’t able to squat because of knee pain, and others can’t do high jumps because of shin splints. If you don’t have any injuries, then skipping is a great exercise that anyone can do. All you need is a skipping rope! It’s a great way to get your heart rate up!

7. When is your favorite time to workout?

My favorite time to work out is at night because it’s the thing I look forward to the most in my day. It’s like my little party! I don’t go to the club, but I go to the gym!!

8. what inspired you to do what you do?

I was quite overweight when I was a kid, and was teased a lot. I didn’t have many friends and I always felt so low. In physical education class, I was always the weakest and slowest. I decided to make a change, and took up some classes at the gym. I fell in love with it. Now I go to the gym because I love it, not because I have to or need to. There’s a big difference in that.I also wanted to share my journey with everyone on Instagram who felt a little bit like me at that time: lonely, insecure, low self-esteem, etc. And encourage them that they can do it, and anyone can do it! It’s all about putting your mind into it, and not listening to what anyone says because you ARE special! And you’re amazing! Never ever would I have thought that I’d reach 45,000 followers! It’s amazing and I still pinch myself at times!!
